Hey there, and welcome to The Family Find.

We’re Sam, Geo, Reuben and Eli.
We are a family of four traveling Australia in an off-grid caravan.

Our blog is your go-to spot for travel itineraries, tips and resources which showcase authentic, fun and adveturous family trips!

Whether we’re exploring hidden gems, sharing travel tips, or testing out must-have family travel products, we’re here to help you make the most of every moment with your crew.

If you want to know more about how we took the leap to become a travel family click through to ‘Our Story’ or head straight to our blog!

Check out our socials for more about our adventures!

After staying at over 250 camps,
This place gets our vote for the most underrated!

Before we start, if you like hidden gems and family adventures, follow along @thefamilyfind.

I seriously cannot believe this place,
White sand, the clearest, blue water, hidden rockpools and even the ability to search an island at low tide!

So many people miss this amazing spot and it was our favourite beach in the whole of SA!

It’s about 6km off the main road, but the dirt road in is a breeze and would be fine for 2WD!

Completely off grid with no phone service, but a very clean drop toilet.

Just 20 minutes from Tumby bay and an hour from Port Lincoln.

It’s protected from the wind and is a great place for families. Perfect for the SUP. Little lagoons are created on low tide that the kids played in all day and the hidden rockpools on the south side of the rock platform are AMAZING!

There’s only 11 camp spots, all are big enough to house a van! You have to book online, but we did this only the day before we arrived and had no trouble booking!

We think sites 5-8 were the best, however we were on 2 and it was still great.

Make sure you save this post to come back to!

You won’t believe us when we say this…

Before we start. If you love family adventure and finding hidden gems, give us a follow @thefamilyfind.

The harder the hike, the more our kids thrive.

Don’t skip a hike just because it’s a Grade 4 or 5. Honestly, we’ve found the harder hikes are more enjoyable — for all of us.

They get to rock scramble, try new things, and push their limits.

They actually listen to instructions because we do dangerous things safely.

And there’s zero time for “I’m bored” or “I’m hungry.”

Save this reel for how to get to the waterfalls!

1. When you arrive - take the track to the right of the sign
2. Head down the stairs and after the first black handrail take the left.
3. You will come to your first ropes and it’s a little like a small abseil. If you’re not keen on that keep walking to the right. Scoot after a small ledge on your bum and find another rope section which is easier.
4. Head towards the spin of the water with a few obstacles like fallen down trees to get around.

For something extra. Once you’re back at the top. Take the track to the left of the sign. About 50 metres in you can rock scramble down and stand on top of the falls.

As always leave no trace. And make your own risk assessments.

This hike is

📍Kelly Falls, Helensburgh.

The road to Purnululu NP is the worst road in Australia!

Hi we are @thefamily find. If you love unfiltered family adventure and finding beautiful places to visit, give us a follow.

Purnululu is 100% an Australian bucket list destination and most of the walks are kid friendly making it the perfect family adventure!

There are camping options in the park, but you can’t tow a duel axel van into the park - single axel only.

There is a free camp at the entrance to the park and often people will day trip in. The drive in will take you 1 1/2 - 2 hours each way dependant on the road conditions and it’s 4wd only!

Is it worth it Absolutely!

Is it the worst road in Australia - we don’t think so!

Comment ‘BUNGLES’ and we will send you our Purnululu blog link straight to your inbox!

Breaking news: we aren’t loaded.

No trust fund.
No inheritance.
No secret money tree.

* We just live below our means
* Say no to lifestyle creep
* Often buy second-hand
* Have a modest home that we love
* We skip designer labels and 5-star resorts
* Prioritise experiences over stuff.

We can’t have it all, so we focus on what matters most. To us right now that’s travelling; exploring, and making memories with our kids.

You won’t believe us when we say…

Our kids still talk about this hike!

Firstly, follow along @thefamilyfind for more epic hikes and family adventures.

This is 100% an Australian Bucketlist hike. It’s only 3km return and honestly a pretty easy incline on the way up until you get to the very last part which includes some rock scrambling and ladder climbing!

Such a cool experience!

I do recommend getting there early, particularly if you’re travelling in the warm summer months. It also means often getting the viewing platform to yourself!

Ps. We had several people tell us the hike wasn’t suitable for children! We are here to tell you that our little ones smashed it and yours can too! Take your time on the boulders and you will have no problems

📍Granite Skywalk, Porongurup National Park
